To be aware of the 'global agenda' is essential; but once awareness comes our focus must realign with local issues. A million problems cannot be addressed with a scattered mind; but a million attentive minds can overcome every problem as it appears.
The rebuild of Hiroshima was a direct consequence of Japan's reliance on big government, whereas the collapse of Detroit was a consequence of the US adopting neoliberal policies that saw manufacturing jobs 'off-shored' to low wage economies. As an attempt to demonise the drawbacks of 'big government' this is a bit of a disaster of a post. Big government isn't a problem if it is highly sensitive to public will, big government is a big problem if it is totalitarian or it is beholden to big business.
