Always a M-Asses knee-jerk reaction upon hearing of a person having committed a wrong, "lock em up". So many issues this raises with so many different scenarios the questions must be applied to.
Historically prisons have been used to:
force compliance with someone else rules,
attempt to keep a greater community safe,
scare a suspect into submission or see the error in their ways.
Is their a point other than vindictiveness, in seeing someone psychologically tortured for years?
Why if someone is going to continue to create victims should that life-form continue? (yet we elevate very some of the worst to position of power or cream of society) .
Would short sharp physical penalty be more effective and mentally productive? Than years of psychological harm in den of criminal training ground anti human mindset. Perhaps some of that anti mindset is valid.
